Upon learning about the distressing...Upon learning about the distressing situation of an elderly man named Syam Sundar, aged 50, residing near Vedvyas in Rourkela, we extended our support. Syam Sundar, who used to work as a daily wage laborer, had been experiencing excruciating pain. After speaking with him, we discovered that he had suffered a severe accident a few months ago, resulting in a complete fracture of his right leg. He was initially taken to RGH Hospital in Rourkela, where the doctor applied a plaster cast and discharged him after a few days. Unfortunately, when the cast was removed, it was found that his bones had not properly healed, but the doctor did not provide further treatment. With no family or relatives available to care for him, Syam Sundar was unable to work and resorted to begging for survival.
Deeply moved by his plight, we immediately sought the assistance of Dr. Naik, an orthopedic specialist at RGH. After examining Syam Sundar, Dr. Naik determined that his case had reached a critical stage where surgery was no longer an option. It was recommended to refer him to Burla, but considering his lack of support, this would only exacerbate his suffering.
Realizing the urgency and the need for immediate care, we promptly shifted Syam Sundar to Manav Seva Ashram, where he could receive the necessary support. Simultaneously, we are actively working towards arranging his treatment at a more advanced hospital.
The incident of Syam Sundar's struggle and our efforts to help him was featured in the esteemed Prameya newspaper, creating awareness and emphasizing the importance of providing compassionate care to those in need.
Upon hearing his distressing circumstances, we took him to Dr. Naik, an orthopedic doctor at RGH. After examining him, the doctor stated that the case had reached a critical stage, making it inoperable. They suggested referring him to Burla. However, the dilemma lies in the fact that if he is sent to Burla, Sambalpur, he will suffer even more due to the lack of someone to look after him. Therefore, we decided to relocate him to Manav Seva Ashram, and we are currently striving to secure his treatment in a better hospital.
